After all, we see Violet fighting enemies in the war, we see her arms come off, and there’s some blood. I'm guessing because the topics and theme is far too complicated for children to understand. I haven't read the novels yet but judging from each of My problem with Violet Evergarden. First off, I haven't finished the show. I started with everyone else two years ago but stopped watching after episode 4. Not because it was bad, which up until this point it really is not, but life happened. So two years later, today to be exact, I started rewatching from the beginning. Then Episode 5 happened. Violet Evergarden, the child soldier turned Auto Memory Doll, writes letters that evoke the words her clients can’t. But when a terminally ill boy requests her services for her family, her own But Violet actually knew that she was inexperienced in understanding human emotions, which is why she is constantly trying to find ways to improve her empathy. As a Doll, she always addressed people politely, even when they say bad things to her. Yeah for risk of sounding like a broken record (cuz I've yelled this a lot in this sub) I'll be brief. But yeah, the primary theme of Violet Evergarden is of tragedy and catharsis. That is to say bad things happen to people, but the story is about them recovering from tragedy and loss not suffering from it. The OVA (34 minutes long) actually belongs between episodes 4 and 5, so you can watch it right away. The first movie (95 minutes long) is a bonus for Violet Evergarden and takes place between episodes 6 and 7, but is picking up the end of the anime too, which is why you only can watch it after the anime. Opinions are divided on the second movie.
